Great reproductions of curious post stamps forged by American war-time Office of Strategic Services (OSS) - precursor of CIA.

It was made as a part of a program to spread dissent in the Third Reich by sending falsified letters and anti-Nazi propaganda to random people across Germany.

The stamps is patterned after original Nazi stamp issued on 20th anniversary of the Beer Hall Putsch of 1923, but instead of Nazi standard-bearer shows Field Marshal Erwin von Witzleben. Witzleben was the highest ranking prosecuted casualty of the aftermath of the Staufenberg's failed assassination of Adolf Hitler (Operation Valkyrie). The caption says "GEHÄNGT AM 8. AUG. 1944" meaning "Hanged on 8th of August 1944".

OSS falsified post-stamps, postal cancels, mail sacks to be indistinguishable from authentic ones. Then they would drop the sacks full of fake letters from low flying airplanes around bombed trains and train stations. Germans would diligently pick up the sacks and deliver them to the intended recipients completing the mission. Read more on "Operation Cornflakes" if you are interested.
