Ostvolk Medal

Tapferkeits- und Verdienstauszeichnung für Angehörige der Ostvölker

As Eastern-Europeans were not worthy wearing Iron Cross, this medal was established for them. It was an equivalent of Iron Cross (both classes) and War Merit Cross. Over time also German personel of the units of Eastern-Europeans were eligible for this award, taken they earnt Iron Cross before. Ostvolk Medals were available in 10 different combinations of

• class: 1st, or 2nd

• variant: with swords, or without swords

• and metal: in gold, silver, or bronze (while bronze was for 2nd class only)
